Q:
What do people normally dress like?
A: Honestly, pretty much in whatever is
comfortable for them. We have a really nice mix of styles among
the people who come here. We don't really care what you wear as long as
you're here!
Q:
What is the music like?
A: If you like Third Day, Delirious, Charlie
Hall, Passion or Chris Tomlin, with a few originals from our Lead Worshipper
Mark Ryan, then you're really going to love the worship. From heart felt
extended music to heart pounding power and even hymns; you'll find what
you want here at the edge!
Q:
Does Israel "preach down" at you and make you feel like
you're worthless?
A: The one thing that Pastor Israel constantly
emphasizes is our desire to be "real". Being real can sometimes be confrontational,
but when done in love, it's more like hearing the truth from your best
friend.
Q:
How many services do you have?
A: Currenlty we hold our BSS's (Bible Study
Series) on Wednesday nights @ 7pm and 2 weekend services
9:30am & 11:15am.
Q:
Who do I contact if I'm interested in volunteering?
A: You can contact the church office
at 405.844.3343, email us at info@theedgechurch.com
or directly email the ministry leader in
the area you wish to volunteer in. |
A
lot of people have wondered how Brittany and I came to the decision to start
a church. As many of you know I was "called" in the 9th grade
and have been in the ministry since I was 18. I knew I would pastor a church
some day, I just never knew when.
Since '91 I have been working with my father
at Citychurch. I've done all kinds of things there, the most recent being
the singles pastor. Just before summer 2001, I felt God moving me on, so
I took 3 months off to seek Christ's will.
During this time I prayed 3 things:
W-h-a-t do I do next? The
answer, start a c-h-u-r-c-h.
W-h-e-r-e do I start? God
took me to Jeremiah 1. This entire chapter is all about the NORTH. I knew
God was telling me Edmond.
W-h-e-n do we start? After
Brittany and I announced our intentions we were attacked. The enemy tried
to make us question or even quit, so I asked the Lord if the timing was
wrong. He led me to Haggai 1. In this chapter God's leaders are trying to
start building the house of God. The people make fun of the leaders and
question their decisions just like us. They say it is not time to build
the house of God.
God answers, He says the time is n-o-w! |

Point Doctrinal Digest:
The below listed synopsis is not meant to be taken as a comprehensive
Doctrinal Statement, but rather as a quick thumbnail sketch of our essential
beliefs.
1. GOD: We believe in God the Holy Trinity: Father, Son
and Holy Spirit.
2. THE BIBLE: We believe that the 66 canonical books
of the Bible are the divinely inspired and inerrant Word of God. The Bible
tells man what he needs to know and do with regards to faith, practice,
and the knowledge of God.
3. CREATION: We believe God created all things, visible
and invisible, and that they were created for His pleasure and glory,
and that the material universe was created in 6 days.
4. MAN: We believe man is a created being who, as an
heir of Adam's fallen nature, possesses an inherent sinfulness which places
him under God's wrath and in need of the salvation which can only be supplied
by the grace of God as it is revealed in the gospel.
5: SALVATION: We believe salvation comes to an individual
as a gift through faith in Jesus Christ, that it comes according to God's
eternal plan, and that it was secured by Christ's perfect atoning work.
6. THE CHURCH: We believe that there is one true universal
church of God comprised of all true believers in Jesus Christ. The church
consists both of believers who have died in the Lord and of believers
yet living. The church on earth is a visible church. Christ commissioned
the officers of the church as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors,
and teachers. The local church is properly overseen by pastors and served
by deacons. We accept the validity of bishops who oversee multiple congregations.
The ordinances or sacraments of the church are Baptism and the Lord's
Supper.
7: THE KINGDOM OF GOD: We believe the kingdom of God
refers to God's absolute rule over all things. We believe the kingdom
of God cannot be understood without also understanding the King of kings,
Jesus Christ, into whose hand the rule of the Kingdom has been given until
the final day when He delivers up the Kingdom to the Father.
8: ESCHATOLOGY: We believe Jesus Christ will return visibly
and bodily on the Last Day, at which time the dead will be raised, history
will be consummated, the final judgment of all men will take place, and
the Kingdom will be delivered back into the hands of the Father.
9: THE DISCIPLING OF NATIONS: We believe that a widespread
and successful discipling of the nations to the Christian faith will have
taken place before Christ returns.
10: CREEDS: We believe and confess the orthodoxy contained,
though not infallibly, in the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and
the Formula of Chalcedon.
11: SPIRITUAL WARFARE: We believe that spiritual warfare
involves the combating of visible and invisible forces which seek to undermine
and resist all Christian activity and liberty. The power of prayer, good
works, Godly resistance to evil in all forms and by Godly means, and the
perception and declaration of the truth are the Christian's armaments
in spiritual warfare.
12: STEWARDSHIP: Godly stewardship involves: Christian
devotion, the conscientious exercise of spiritual gifts, the development
of talents and vocational skills, the wise stewardship of material and
intellectual resources, the exercise of godly influence in all areas of
life. |
